  Chapter V

  An Actual Reading

  The subject’s Card of the Day was the Queen of Clubs. The cards were then thoroughly shuffled and laid out by the reader for a subject who was on the phone. The cards representing the present are the Queen of Clubs, the Jack of Diamonds, and the Queen of Diamonds. The near future cards are the seven of Hearts, the six of Diamonds, and the five of Diamonds. The far future cards are the seven of Clubs, the King of Hearts, and seven of Diamonds.

  The most immediate and striking features of the layout are:

  The appearance of the Queen of Clubs in the cards representing the present. The Queen was drawn just a few minutes earlier from mid-deck as the card of the day. The cards were then thoroughly shuffled and cut, and the Queen literally flies out of the deck to be the first card turned over in the layout. Amazing!

  The appearance of two queens in the layout in the present indicates the current importance of women in the subject’s life.

  The appearance of three sevens in the layout. They are telling the subject to get organized on all levels and to focus on religion, the sacred, and the mystical for greater happiness and satisfaction in life. Seven is a sacred number so the subject is being blessed, perhaps by God or by three entities who are known to the subject and who have passed over to the Other Side. The sevens are dynamic and fortunate, overcoming any negative cards turned up in the reading.

  The six red cards in the layout are positive in nature indicating luck, wealth, and success. They may bring attention and recognition to the subject, but the subject needs to forego the ego trip and focus on helping others move forward to success also.

  Moving on to each line in the layout, the queens in the present line are separated by the Jack of Diamonds who is the bearer of good news that will make a change in the subject’s life, improving its quality and direction. The Jack represents a powerful male who holds the subject in an honorable and respectful light.

  The Diamonds in the near future line of the reading layout are positive in nature and reinforce the success of the present as long as the subject maintains strength, honesty, and a positive outlook as well as being helpful to those who are not as fortunate. The seven of Hearts indicates a move or beneficial change.

  The far future line of the layout contains two more sevens (Clubs, Diamonds) and the King of Hearts. They indicate happiness and success and even wealth, perhaps coming through an agreement, contract, or a generous and loving male. The sevens are both spiritual and secular so the subject will need to maintain balance in both areas.

  Chapter VI

  Changing your Destiny

  The future is not cast in stone. It is possible to change your future by making changes in your life, in your way of doing things, and in the way you think in general. Any change, large or small, has the potential to change your future and, ultimately, your destiny or purpose for being here at this particular time and in your particular location. In these uncertain times, keep in mind that you need to give a front to the Universe to sweep in wealth and meet your needs from a variety of sources.

  If the cards have been read and the forecast is not as hoped, you may choose to change your future. Begin by changing your outlook. A positive

  outlook will attract positive results. An ideal way to change attitude and outlook is to choose a playing card with a positive meaning and meditate on it for a few minutes each day until you feel you have essentially established ownership of the card—thus, the card and what it represents becomes your own.

  Three of my personal favorites for meditation are:

  The four of Hearts: I envision reaching out to the four corners of the Universe—North, South, East, and West—and receiving the abundance that each has to offer. My favorite affirmation is “I am a child of the Universe” which implies that, like a good parent, the Universe will provide for me with the absolute best it has to offer.

  The Jack of Hearts: Symbolized by a closed, mysterious book, I envision myself opening the book to a new life that is more positive and successful in both material and spiritual ways.

  The seven of Diamonds: I envision the flames and the fire (the symbols of the card) as burning away all evil and negativity surrounding me while, at the same time, heating up a positive outlook and the success that it will attract to me.

  Another way to connect with the Universe and focus on the positive future that you want to secure for yourself is to take a walk in a woods or meadow.

  Along the way look around you for a special item like a feather left behind by a bird, a nut lying in your path, an unusual leaf or twig, or a unique stone that grabs your attention. Thank the Universe for such a treasure and take it home. Make it your meditative focus as a gift of nature that holds a connection to the Universe and all the positive things that can be yours in the future.

  My final suggestion for changing your future is choosing a positive gemstone that will attract to you the things you want most in life. Carry it with you or have it in view at all times to remind yourself of your goals and ambitions. However, maintain balance and do not allow your goals to become so overwhelming that nothing else matters to you. Remember always that the Universe will not reward selfishness or greed. Each gemstone has its own special power and purpose. In choosing a gemstone for a special signature piece of jewelry, you do two things. First, you bring the gemstone into your personal sphere to work in your behalf. Second, by adopting a particular gemstone, you have it as a constant reminder of what you wish to achieve with its help. Gemstones always work in positive ways so enjoy their vibrant color, interesting plays with lighting, and unique textures while they work diligently to bring positive change into your life. Suggestions follow but the ultimate choice is yours to make.

  Agates come in a variety of colors—white, blue, green, pink, brown, and gray. The stones appear waxy and translucent and often have small crystal formations. Agates enhance luck and attract love and abundance. They boost self-confidence and your sense of well-being while helping you achieve balance on emotional, physical, and mental levels. Agates improve your ability to study and analyze; as grounding stones, ages get rid of negativity and help you be more practical and sincere. Blue lace agate is especially healing by bring peace of mind and enhancing self-expression.

  Amethyst is a calming, protective gem that ranges in color from dark purple to lavender. It is especially helpful to those wishing to overcome an addiction because it raises motivational levels and brings insights that were previously overlooked. Amethyst alleviates fear and anxiety and is supportive when you are trying to come to terms with loss.

  Wear andalusite when you need to do a reality check. It is excellent when you have problems to solve through research and analysis or when you need to make changes because it helps you give up what is no longer working and replace it with something better. Andalusite ranges in color from reddish brown to gray-brown to olive green; it often has color changing properties in natural light (enabling you to look at problems or situations from several angles as you seek solutions).

  Aventurine occurs in a variety of colors—blue, green, peach, brown, or red. It is a stone of abundance and prosperity that opens you to the world of possibilities and opportunities. It stimulates creativity, imagination, and leadership abilities while enhancing the decision-making process and helping to turn around negative situations.

/>   Beryl is a gemstone that helps you overcome stress and anxiety while it helps you simplify your life. Beryl helps you eliminate distraction and focus on goals in a positive and productive way. It occurs naturally in many color including pink, yellow, green, white, and blue. Golden Beryl is a stone of magick and manifestation. Pink beryl (morganite) is a stone of love that dissolves negativity and resistance so that true progress is made possible.

  Choose chalcedony when you need to work closely with others or within a group dynamic. It absorbs and dissolves negativity and/or hostility while it promotes cooperation and harmony. Chalcedony is an opaque stone that occurs naturally in white, pink, blue, red, and gray colors; it make beautiful rings and jewelry items that capture the attention of others because of the way it captures light and seems to glow.

  Chrysocolla is a turquoise, green, or blue gemstone that helps you deal with constantly changing situations; it boosts inner strength and gives a sense of calm serenity. It is also a stone of wisdom, courage, endurance, self-confidence, and joy.

  Green or yellow-green chrysoprase is a gemstone of truth and honesty that brings out your talents and creativity. It creates a calm and secure atmosphere where the positive can flourish in a variety of ways and you will see the path that is best for you to take.

  As a stone of success and prosperity, yellow citrine stimulates creativity and self-confidence. It cleanses negativity from the atmosphere, generates a positive outlook (free of anger and frustrations), and attracts abundance while it encourages the exploration of new ideas and new lines of activity.

  Emeralds are gemstones of unconditional love, domestic happiness, partnership, and loyal friends. They encourage recovery and healing as well as help in overcoming problems or negative situations. Wear emerald when you need wisdom, truth, insight, and understanding.

  Fluorite occurs naturally in a variety of colors with purple, clear, blue, green, and yellow being the most common. It is gemstone that helps you to think and process information easily, to organize your thoughts, and to lay aside personal feelings so that objective decisions can be made. Fluorite heightens intuition and dissolves illusions so that the truth is revealed. It also boosts self-confidence and has a stabilizing effect that gives a sense of security and well-being while eliminating stress and negativity from your environment.

  Garnets are gems of courage, hope, love, and devotion. They keep you strong and calm in times of a crisis. Garnets help you make progress and achieve success by helping you to move away from situations that are no longer beneficial for you.

  Hematite is a heavy silver-black or red-brown gemstone that helps you maintain a practical outlook and sense of balance. It dissolves negativity and establishes an atmosphere of peace and harmony so that success is made possible. Hematite is said to be especially helpful in legal matters and when seeking to moderate any form of over-indulgence or addiction (eating, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc.). It helps you come to terms with mistakes and learn from them. Hematite aids creativity and the ability to concentrate, sort through problems, and study technical or scientific subjects.

  Iron pyrite or Fool’s Gold is a very positive stone. It blocks negativity and helps you see potentials, especially when making plans or mapping strategies in business. It boosts confidence and self-esteem, intuition, creativity, and analytical abilities.

  Jade is a gem of wisdom, insight, luck, love, and nurturing. It promotes peach and serenity while helping you become the person you are truly capable of being.

  Red-brown jasper is a gem of positive action. It reminds us to help others while it boosts courage, self-confidence, organizational skills, and creative imagination. It works slowly over a period of time to absorb negativity, to establish balance on physical, emotional, and mental levels, and to rectify unjust situations.

  Purple-pink kunzite is a powerful aid to anyone who is having trouble adjusting or adapting to changing circumstances. It strengthens the body’s energy field so that confidence and a sense of security result. Kunzite is especially helpful to anyone who feels anxious or suffers panic attacks. It also promotes compromise with others, intuition, and creative inspiration.

  Kyanite is a pearl-like blue gemstone that helps you cut through fears, confusion, illusions, misconceptions, ignorance, anger, frustration, and stress of all sorts. It fosters clear and logical thinking and clarity in communication; kyanite shines light on the truth with insight and intuition as it helps you see how you fit into what is going on around you.

  An iridescent gemstone with shades of blue, yellow, gray, and green running through it, labradorite is a mystical and protective gem of wisdom, intuition, and insight. It helps you get to the cause of a problem so that corrections can be made at the foundation level.

  Deep blue lapis lazuli is a gem of truth, clarity, wisdom, and creativity. It encourages you to become more than you ever dreamed possible as it releases you form doubts and reservations that have been holding you back or slowing you down. In addition, it promotes joy in relationships and sharing with others.

  Banded green malachite is a powerful gem that absorbs all forms of negativity. Place it on a clear quartz cluster in sunlight to cleanse it and keep it strong. It is a stone of change and transformation because it creates situations where old and outworn ties, habits, and relationships can be left behind. It encourages accountability, seeing the cause of a problem or difficulty, and understanding complex concepts.

  Choose moonstone to calm emotions, stimulate intuition, and generally overcome stress of all descriptions. Moonstone raises awareness of the cycles of change that belong to the Moon so that new endeavors and new projects are made possible and embraced.

  Obsidian is a powerhouse gem that helps you make changes that are positive and progressive. It knows no limits or boundaries; obsidian shines its light into the darkest corners of your life and makes you whole by helping you to gain control over your life. A magical gemstone from the very bowels of the Earth (obsidian is volcanic glass), obsidian helps you manifest the kind of life you wish to lead as long as you focus on the positive, fairness, and honesty. As a gem of insight and wisdom, obsidian clears away confusion and soaks up negativity like a sponge (clean it regularly by holding it under running water). Black obsidian is especially powerful, compelling, creative and protective. Mahogany or brown obsidian grounds, stabilizes, and protects while stimulating progress and growth toward a specific goal.

  Wear onyx for stability, strength, stamina, intuition, and to ward off negativity. It is a gem of privacy and secrecy that helps you focus on a specific goal then work toward its achievement. Onyx helps you heal from hurts and sorrows that happened long ago but that you couldn’t seem to put behind you. In fact, onyx sees your needs then works diligently in your behalf to see that they are met.

  Shimmering opals are energy amplifiers that help you reach your full potential in life. They foster dynamic creativity and nurture artistic talents. The reddish-orange fire opal is especially powerful when you need to let go of the past and make changes (think of the fire in the opal as burning the past away). It raises hope and self-confidence while it amplifies your chances for success and abundance.

  Olive green peridot is a gem of release from burdens or emotional baggage (anger, obsessions, resentments, jealousy) that are negative, counterproductive, and holding you back from success. Peridot enhances intuition with insight and clear understanding. As a gem of vision, it lets you see a world of personal potentials and possibilities.

  No discussion of gemstones is complete until the clear quartz crystal is included. It is an energy amplifier and facilitator as well as a gemstone of communication, understanding, and insight. Clear quartz is dynamic and positive working on many levels at the same time to bring you what you need most for happiness and success.

  Pink rose quartz is a gem of unconditional love, peace, and harmony. It attracts romantic relationships while helping you recover from internal pain and suffering at the hands of others. At the same time, rose quartz rais
es your level of sensitivity, awareness, receptivity, and caring; another gift of rose quartz is one of self-acceptance and a sense of self-worth.

  Like the threads that criss-cross rutilated quartz, this gemstone is a complex stone that is both spiritual and practical in application. It connects you to the Universe and cosmic wisdom. It protects by funneling away negative energies other may have sent your way, by warding off disease, and by draining away inner stress and anxiety. Rutilated quartz can help you find the cause or root of a problem then help you make changes or corrections to overcome it.
